The Biological Sciences building entered service in 2013. This new facility has more than 158,000 gross square feet that houses five active-learning classrooms, 10 teaching labs and 15 research labs that will be utilized by the more than 1,300 undergraduate and graduate biology students.
Merik provided building envelope commissioning services that included pre-design, design, construction phase observations and close-out inspections. We surveyed and tested the exterior walls, store front and curtainwall windows, roofing, waterproofing and slab on grade.
Water penetration testing was done in accord with ASTM E1105 requirements. The air differential and water penetration tests used calibrated air and spray rack equipment. Fenestration units that did not pass were repaired and retested.
